This one is for where us deep sea divers cannot go;
The ability to repair pipelines remotely becomes critical as water depths of offshore field developments continue to increase beyond saturation diving limits.
While there have been several proposed solutions available, very few repairs have been carried out remotely. In October 2012, a Houston based team successfully completed a repair in 3, 200 feet of sea water from a light construction vessel.
All work had to be carried out only using work class Remote Operate Vehicles (ROV). Detailed engineering, planning, ROV tool interfacing and a complete system integration test including equipment trials were critical to minimizing vessel downtime and meeting an aggressive schedule.
A repair of a deep water pipeline is critical to the long term integrity, and life expectancy following the discovery of a defect, this is to say that carrying out an EPRS successfully, you must work with a selective and very experienced subsea engineering and manufacturing company, a dedicated team of people that have been working in this industry for many years and a crew of highly skilled offshore personnel rich with time served experiences in subsea pipeline repairs.
Importantly; For all companies, providing offshore services and subsea engineering services. In the main for deep water intervention, your core team of subsea engineers and ROV pilots, and support crew must be highly experienced men with the ability to deal with all situations.
Deep water interventions success is all about your team of people; your success depends on your team.
Deep water intervention is doable, but you have to get it right, starting with the right subsea engineering and manufacturing company, down to the crew, highly experienced pilots and the working class ROV at the end of its umbilical.
Fully Automated Deepwater Structural Pipeline Repair Clamps;
MJM on behalf of Subsea Innovation Ltd (SIL), have been given clearance to introduce one of the biggest fully automated deep water structural pipeline repair clamps that has been designed and manufactured to DNV RP113
Subsea Innovation Ltd; An innovative subsea engineering company that has been championing the North Sea England, expanding its business fast World Wide are the first company Global to attain DNV-RP-113 approval on all their fully automated deep water pipeline repair clamps
This particular clamp is designed for a water depth of 1850m and it includes an installation tooling system.
The clamp is fitted with 3 working ROV Hot stab positions located on the clamp itself which local pressure intensification up to 1500bar on the 2 functioning stabs.
The hot stabs control the bolt tensioning system which is fully automatic and reversible/removable also the installation tooling.
The 2 functional hot stabs (each 10 way in this case) are connected to the tooling via flying leads which are detachable when the clamp is removed
The test port is located on one side of the clamp in the centre which stay down with the clamp
There are two ROV hots tabs located on the top of the clamp (for improved access) which are powered by the ROV skid which is used to control all the functions of the tool and the clamp
The intent is a second ROV is used for observations
The clamps in the video are fitted with 10 tensioners in the main pressure holding body of the clamp and 12 off (6 each) on the 2 structural collet packs
This clamp was built to seal 1.2m between seals for a 1m area of damage on the pipeline(please check the videos via "video center)
These clamps are fully automated and are used with fully hydraulically operated releasable nut assemblies
Pipeline repair clamps are built to the client specification
Soon to build by Subsea Innovation Ltd a fully automated deep water structural pipeline repair clamps for a 48” line with 5.5m between seals
MJM Offshore Ltd; personnel division brag some 2000 personnel on their books, many of which are highly experienced working within the offshore industry info@mjmdiving.com
